John lived in Middletown, Connecticut. His house stood next to his father’s, near the corner of the present Main and Washington streets. He was a sergeant in the militia. In his will he mentions nine children and his wife, for the possibility of whose second and even third marriage he provides. His estate amounted to £317.¹
